Bringing heritage joinery back to life

Our client supplied us with some very 'charred' Solid Rimu and Kauri doors. Some were beyond repair, but our brief was that they would love to see the history of these doors after the restoration was complete.

Some doors were disassembled and components were salvaged and spliced.
Rimu Timber paneling from the old fire damaged house was repurposed for door panels and also for veneer facing of the rails and stiles. The Kauri doors' renovation were restrained by the availability of the timber. This was discussed with client prior and they were happy to proceed.

A limited volume of moldings were recovered from the fire. We then exactly replicated these to make up the meterage required using recycled Rimu.
This bespoke tooling was then used to manufacture Skirtings and architraves for the entire house.

We designed tooling and manufactured the door sets, skirtings, architraves and ceiling cove mouldings which the builder then installed.

The client was overwhelmed with the result.
